The original photos have been made from those huge metallic globes which have been placed on the lawn in front of the European patent office in Munich. The are shiny, plein silvery metallic and seemingly without colour at all like this.
But the reflections from the trees and the buildings, all sorts of shadows do their magical job: they ignite a range of colours which are visible only after photoshop has done its work. I did not add any colours I just extracted and enhanced the colours which are already there – magical – isn’t it?
The scratches on the surface add textures and sometimes it looks as if there has been someone who blew golden glitter on the globe…
.

Wow Petra, I just love these. Each one enchanting in its own way. You would think that the scratches and pits in the globes surface might distract from the reflection – but I think it actually enhances it with a great texture. I may need to try some of these myself – I have one of those globes sitting around somewhere here.

Hi Mark, I was somehow entranced by these plein globes – LOL. I did not expect something extraordinary at all and was ready to throw everything into the bin – it was just an experiment. Imagine my surprise when I started to work on these images in photoshop. It was so much fun!! Maybe I will even start a few abstract paintings from these images. I have lots of ideas – especially those tiny golden sparkles are in my mind…
