It’s end of April and the last students had to leave the Olympic Student Village in Munich - read the full story here . You’ll find all posts that I have written about this photo documentation “Reminiscences” project on the sidebar.
The last bungalows are torn down which is good in one way because they were rotten. But nevertheless it’s a sad view to see all those painted walls disappear, all the inner skeletons are ripped out and what is left are some empty shells which will soon be disappeared also…And there are those beautiful blossom trees and other plants which had grown wild and supplied an atmosphere of southern life - they have to leave also. I can hear the noise of the chainsaw and I definitely hate that sound! Each time I hear that shrieking sound I know another tree has fallen.
My brain says it is necessary but my heart is bleeding…

There are some of the new bungalows up already - in their basic construction - but the whole area looks like a mess of course. Hopefully it is true what they say - that the new residents to come will be allowed to paint their little homes again - and then we might have another little village again, full of life, full of colours, full of atmosphere - but this will take time - an awful lot of time…

Apparently they are going to save one of the old bungalows as a kind of “memorial” - at least it looks like that. I wonder how it will be left…

Stay tuned for another update in some weeks…

Hopefully they will decorate and paint to give it all the character of the old place!
